Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors - Triumph 1300 - 1500 106TY2 With Contact Breaker Ignition
Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors for Triumph 1300-1500 provide custom ignition solutions to suit performance upgrades in classic cars. Designed to improve power and drivability, these distributors are based on new Lucas or Bosch units that have been dyno developed to offer the correct ignition advance curve for different engine tunes. They cater to various popular camshaft upgrades and can be paired with mechanical advance for engines using twin sidedraught carburettors or Ignitor electronic ignition. The Ignitor system provides a more reliable, consistent, and efficient ignition trigger compared to the traditional contact breaker (points) system, offering a fit-and-forget solution that maintains the original look on classic vehicles. The distributors are available in various options for different engine configurations: 100AY - For most tuned Triumph engines with camshafts like Piper 270/285, Kent 266/276 and 286. This distributor is a non-vacuum type. 100AYV - Similar to the 100AY but with vacuum advance, suitable for engines with camshafts and comp. ratios above 10:1. 100AYS - Identical to the 100AY but with a distributor cap that has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top, necessary for Sprite/Midget applications. 100AYSV - Similar to the 100AYV but with the same modification for the distributor cap. 100AYP - Uses the same advance characteristics as 100AY but has a later type drive dog to suit 'A' plus blocks in the metro. 100AR - For rally and race tuned engines running on camshafts such as 649, sprint or supersprint types. This distributor is also available for Piper 300/320 or Kent 296/310 type camshafts. 100ARS - Identical to the 100AR but with a distributor cap that has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top. 100ARP - Uses the same advance characteristics as 100AR but with the later type drive dog for 'A' plus blocks in the metro. BMC 'A' Series Applications: 101BY1 - A distributor with vacuum advance designed for MGBs and Marina TCs with HS4 SU Carburettors (note that later versions of these cars have the vacuum advance pipe connected to the inlet manifold, use 101BY2 for those applications). 101BY1S - Similar to the 101BY1 but with a distributor cap that has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top (required for some pre-rubber MGBs where H.T. leads may foul on the steering column). 101BY2 - A distributor with vacuum advance suitable for MGBs and Marina TCs with HIF4 SU carburettors, improves driveability while retaining resistance to 'run-on'. 101BR1 - A non-vacuum distributor for tuned 'B' series engines using camshafts like 714, 715, Piper 270, 285 and fitted with a side draught carburettor. 101BR1S - Similar to the 101BR1 but with a distributor cap that has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top (required for some applications). 101BR2 - A vacuum advance distributor for road tuned 'B' series engines using camshafts like 714, 864, Piper 270, 285 and retaining SU carburettors. Ford X/Flow and Twin Cam (All Lucas Based): 103FX1 - A non-vacuum distributor suitable for X/Flow engines with side draught carburettors but retaining the standard 'GT' camshaft. This distributor is identified by a different drive dog. 103FX1S - Similar to the 103FX1 but with a distributor cap that has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top, required when a pair of side draught carburettors are fitted to 1100 and 1300 engines. However, we cannot guarantee fitment if the block has been skimmed to a great extent. 103FXY - A non-vacuum distributor suitable for most tuned X/Flow engines using camshafts like A2, BCF1, Piper 270, 285, Kent 234, 244 in conjunction with side draught carburettors. Note that a vacuum unit must not be used when an engine is fitted with side draught carburettors. 103FXYV - On some X/Flow engines with a twin choke down draught carburettor, it may be possible to have a vacuum-controlled distributor (use this option). 103FXYS - Similar to the 100FXY but with a distributor cap that has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top and required for side draught carburettors on 1100 and 1300 engines. However, we cannot guarantee fitment if the block has been skimmed to a great extent. 103FXYSI - Similar to the 100FXYS but fitted with Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition system instead of points. 103FXR - For race specification X/Flow engines, detailed engine specifications are required for accurate selection. 103FXRS - Similar to the 100FXR but with a distributor cap that has the H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top. 103TC - A non-vacuum distributor suitable for most twin cam engines from standard to virtually full race. Ford OHC (Pinto) All Bosch Units: 104FPY - A non-vacuum distributor suitable for engines with side draught carburettors but retaining the standard camshaft. This part is identified by a different drive dog. 104FPR1 - A non-vacuum distributor suitable for engines fitted with modified camshafts like Piper 270, 285 and side draught carburettors. 104FPR2 - A vacuum advance distributor suitable for engines with twin choke down draught carburettors together with a modified camshaft (Piper 270, 285 etc.). These Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors are designed to meet the specific ignition requirements of classic cars undergoing performance upgrades and cater to various engine setups.
