Approach to Privacy
We are committed to protecting your personal information and take your right to privacy very seriously.
If you do not agree to your Information being used or disclosed in this way, please do not use our website.
We collect information about you from our third party tracking software Google Analytics, and your IP address.
Google Analytics allows us to better understand our users, what devices they use to access the site such as a mobile, tablet or desktop, what pages are visited and which links are clicked on. We collect this information to provide a better experience for users, if for example we find out that a lot of people are interested in parts for an Audi A3, then this prompts us to add more products for that particular car.
We collect and store IP addresses, this is used in two ways
Localised currency – With your IP address we lookup the country where you are located and show prices in your local currency.
Tracking – When you click through to an adverter/retailer site we store the IP address, this is strictly for fraud prevention as some of the products listed on Compare.Parts are monetised.
When you complete a contact form, product review or leave a comment we collect and store the information supplied by you in the form. This is simply so we can reply to you, or check the product review/comment is not spam. This information is checked by a service called AKISMET which checks to see if the comment/review/form submission is spam. We do not sell/rent any personal data supplied on the site.
Like many websites, we receive general information that is contained in our server log files, such as your IP address and cookie information, none of the information stored in our log files are sold/rented to any third parties.
Disclosure of Your Information
Though we make every effort to preserve users’ privacy, we may need to disclose your Information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current or pending judicial proceeding, a court order, an investigation of unlawful activity or activity that may expose us or you to legal liability.
In the event that Compare.Parts is subjected to a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of a portion of its assets, your Information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. You will be notified via prominent notice on our website 30 days prior to a change of ownership or control of your Information.
To make full use of www.Compare.Parts, your computer, tablet or mobile phone will need to accept cookies.
Our cookies don’t store sensitive information such as your name or address. However, if you’d prefer to restrict, block or delete cookies from Compare.Parts, or any other website, you can use your browser to do this. Each browser is different, so check the ‘Help’ menu of your particular browser (or your mobile phone’s handset manual) to learn how to change your cookie preferences. Blocking cookies on Compare.Parts may result in a broken experience as they are necessary for things like currency conversion to work properly.
GDPR – Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’)
Due to the new GDPR laws you have the Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’). If you longer wish for Compare.Parts to hold your information, please complete the Right to Erasure Form.
