Aldon offers a range of options to match popular camshaft upgrades, ensuring compatibility and maximising performance gains. All distributors are available with the traditional contact breaker (points) ignition system. However, for increased reliability and consistency, many models can be specified with Aldon’s ‘Ignitor’ electronic ignition system. The Ignitor is designed as a fit-and-forget solution, seamlessly integrating within the distributor cap to preserve the original aesthetic of classic vehicles.

Beyond improved dependability, the Ignitor electronic ignition also contributes to enhanced engine driveability and overall performance. By eliminating the need for regular point adjustments and maintenance, it provides a consistent spark across a wider range of operating conditions.

  • BMC ‘A’ Series Applications:
    • 100AY: Non-vacuum distributor, suitable for most tuned 'A' series engines using camshafts such as Piper 270/285, Kent 266/276 & 286.
    • 100AYV: Similar to 100AY but with vacuum advance (generally recommended for compression ratios under 10:1).
    • 100AYS: Identical to 100AY, but features a distributor cap with side-exit HT leads – necessary for Sprite/Midget applications.
    • 100AYSV: Combines the characteristics of 100AYV with a side-exit distributor cap.
    • 100AYP: Uses the 100AY advance curve but incorporates a later-type drive dog for compatibility with ‘A’ Plus blocks in Metro applications.
    • 100AR: Non-vacuum distributor designed for rally and race-tuned 'A' series engines, compatible with camshafts like 649, Sprint or Supersprint, as well as Piper 300/320 & Kent 296/310.
    • 100ARS: Identical to 100AR but with a side-exit distributor cap.
    • 100ARP: Combines the 100AR advance curve with a drive dog suitable for ‘A’ Plus blocks in Metro applications.
