Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors offer an optimised ignition curve for Ford X-Flow 103FXRS engines that have been upgraded with different camshaft profiles and often twin sidedraught carburettors.
The standard distributor unit may no longer provide the required ignition advance curve, leading to a loss of power and drivability. Aldon performance distributors are developed on new Lucas or Bosch units to ensure the correct ignition advance curve for various engine tunes.
They are available with mechanical advance options for engines using twin sidedraught carburettors.
Key Features
- Modified ignition advance curve
- Options available to match popular camshaft upgrades
- Improved power and drivability on tuned engines
- Available with Ignitor electronic ignition, offering a more reliable and consistent ignition trigger
Distributor Versions Available for Different Ford X-Flow 103FXRS Applications
BMC 'A' SERIES APPLICATIONS:
- 100AY - Non-vacuum distributor suitable for most tuned engines using camshafts such as Piper 270/285, Kent 266/276, and 286.
- 100AYV - Identical to the 100AY but with vacuum advance. Recommended for engines with a compression ratio above 10:1.
- 100AYS - Same as the 100AY but with a distributor cap that has H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top, necessary for Sprite/Midget applications.
- 100AYSV - Identical to the 100AYV but with H.T. leads coming out of the side.
- 100AYP - Uses the same advance characteristics as 100AY but has the later type drive dog to suit 'A' plus blocks in the metro.
- 100AR - Non-vacuum distributor for rally and race tuned engines running on 649, sprint or supersprint type camshafts, also available for Piper 300/320 and Kent 296/310 type camshafts.
- 100ARS - Same as the 100AR but with H.T. leads coming out of the side.
- 100ARP - Identical to the 100AR but with a later type drive dog for 'A' plus blocks in the metro.
BMC 'B' SERIES APPLICATIONS:
- 101BY1 - Distributor with vacuum advance, designed to replace the original distributor on standard MGBs and Marina TCs fitted with HS4 SU Carburettors. For later versions with the vacuum advance pipe connected to the inlet manifold, use 101BY2.
- 101BY1S - Identical to 101BY1 but with a distributor cap that has H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top for pre-rubber MGBs where H.T. leads may foul on the steering column.
- 101BY2 - Distributor with vacuum advance suitable for standard MGBs and Marina TCs with HIF4 SU carburettors, improves driveability while retaining resistance to 'run-on'.
- 101BR1 - Non-vacuum distributor for tuned 'B' series using camshafts such as 714, 715, Piper 270/285 and fitted with a side draught carburettor.
- 101BR1S - Same as the 101BR1 but with a distributor cap that has H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top for some pre-rubber MGBs.
- 101BR2 - Vacuum advance distributor suitable for road tuned 'B' series using 714, 864, Piper 270/285 camshafts and retaining SU carburettors.
FORD X/FLOW AND TWIN CAM (ALL LUCAS BASED):
- 103FX1 - Non-vacuum distributor suitable for X/Flow engines fitted with side draught carburettors but retaining the standard 'GT' camshaft.
- 103FX1S - Same as 103FX1 but with a distributor cap that has H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top for applications where a pair of side draught carburettors are fitted to 1100 and 1300 engines.
- 103FXY - Non-vacuum distributor suitable for most tuned X/Flow engines using camshafts such as A2, BCF1, Piper 270/285, Kent 234, 244 and in conjunction with side draught carburettors.
- 103FXYV - Identical to 103FXY but with vacuum advance for some X/Flow engines with a twin choke down draught carburettor.
- 103FXYS - Same as the 103FXY but with a distributor cap that has H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top and suitable for applications where a pair of side draught carburettors are fitted to 1100 and 1300 engines.
- 103FXYSI - Same as 103FXYS but with Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition system instead of points.
- 103FXR - Distributor for race specification X/Flow engines, full details of the engine specification required.
- 103FXRS - Identical to the 103FXR but with a distributor cap that has H.T. leads coming out of the side instead of the top.
