Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors - BMC A Series 100AYS With Contact Breaker Ignition

Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors are specifically designed to address the ignition requirements of tuned BMC A Series engines. These engines often feature different camshaft profiles and twin sidedraught carburettors, which render the standard distributor unit ineffective as it no longer provides an optimal ignition curve for these upgraded engines. The result is a loss of power and drivability.

To overcome this issue, Aldon performance distributors are engineered from new Lucas or Bosch units and have been dyno developed to provide tailored ignition advance curves suitable for different engine tuning levels. Most versions offer an additional option of mechanical advance for engines using twin sidedraught carburettors.

Our performance distributors offer the following benefits:

A comprehensive range of applications are available for various BMC A Series engines:

• 100AY - Non-vacuum distributor suitable for most tuned engines using camshafts such as Piper 270/285, Kent 266/276 and 286
• 100AYV - Vacuum advance distributor (general rule: engines with compression ratios over 10:1 use 100AY)
• 100AYS - Identical to the 100AY but with a distributor cap featuring side exit H.T. leads, necessary for Sprite/Midget applications
• 100AYSV - Vacuum advance distributor with side exit H.T. leads
• 100AYP - Uses the same advance characteristics as 100AY but with a later type drive dog to suit 'A' plus blocks in the metro
• 100AR - Non-vacuum distributor for rally and race tuned engines running on 649, sprint or supersprint type camshafts
• 100ARS - Identical to the 100AR but with side exit H.T. leads
• 100ARP - Uses the same advance characteristics as 100AR but with a later type drive dog for 'A' plus blocks in the metro
