Refunds and Returns Policy

1. Overview

At Compare.Parts, all transactions are processed securely via PayPal, which offers comprehensive Purchase Protection for both buyers and sellers.

  • Buyer Protection: If you don’t receive your item or if it’s significantly not as described, you may be eligible for a refund through PayPal Purchase Protection. Disputes related to marketplace transactions can be raised directly through PayPal.
  • Seller Protection: Sellers may also be eligible for PayPal Seller Protection, provided they comply with PayPal’s terms, such as providing proof of delivery and using trackable shipping methods.

2. How to Initiate a Return

Marketplace Transactions:

  1. Step 1: Contact the seller directly to request a return or refund. The seller’s return policy will govern the process.
  2. Step 2: If the seller is unresponsive or the item is significantly not as described, you can open a dispute through PayPal’s Resolution Center within 180 days of the transaction.
  3. Step 3: PayPal will mediate the dispute and may refund your payment if you are eligible under PayPal Purchase Protection.

Transactions on Affiliate Sites

  • For products purchased through affiliate links to third-party websites, Compare.Parts is not responsible for handling returns or refunds.
  • All returns, refunds, and disputes related to affiliate transactions must be handled directly with the third-party website where the purchase was made.
  • We recommend reviewing the return and refund policy on the third-party site before completing your purchase.

3. Eligible Items for Returns

To be eligible for a return for Marketplace Transactions:

  • The item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it.
  • The item must be in the original packaging.
  • You will need the original receipt or proof of purchase.

Non-Returnable Items: Custom-made car parts, digital goods, and other specific categories may not be eligible for return, as specified by the seller in the product listing.

4. Refund Processing

Once your returned item is received and inspected by the seller:

  • You will receive a notification about the approval or rejection of your refund.
  • If approved, your refund will be processed, and the amount will be credited back to your original payment method within 7-10 business days.

5. Dispute Resolution

If a seller fails to honor a return or refund request:

  • You can escalate the case to Compare.Parts after 7 days of non-response.
  • Compare.Parts will review the case and, if necessary, may step in to provide a refund or facilitate further communication between the buyer and seller.
  • Three Strikes Policy: Sellers who repeatedly fail to resolve buyer complaints may have their accounts suspended or terminated.

6. Shipping Costs for Returns

  • Buyers are typically responsible for return shipping costs unless otherwise specified by the seller.
  • In some cases, return shipping costs may be deducted from the refund amount.

7. Sale Items

Only regular-priced items are eligible for a refund. Sale or discounted items may not be eligible for returns.

8. Fraudulent Returns

We take fraudulent returns seriously. Any attempt to defraud Compare.Parts or our sellers by returning an incorrect item, an empty box, or a damaged product that was not originally shipped will result in the following actions:

  • Investigation: If a seller suspects a return is fraudulent, they may report it to Compare.Parts for investigation. Both the buyer and seller will be asked to provide evidence.
  • Outcome: If Compare.Parts finds evidence of buyer fraud, the buyer’s refund will be denied, their account may be suspended or terminated, and legal action may be pursued.
  • Seller Protection: In cases of proven buyer fraud, Compare.Parts may provide protection to sellers, including compensation or preventing fraudulent buyers from further transactions on the platform.
