The Michelin Collection TRX is a pioneering tyres design that was first introduced in 1975. This innovative tyre design allowed for a more even distribution of tension in the whole tyre casing, hence the name TR standing for "Tension Repartie" or distributed tension. The TRX gained recognition in Formula 1 racing with Renault and Prost, as well as in the world rally championship on the Audi Quattro, 205 Turbo 16 and R5 Turbo. The TRX was designed to work in harmony with its rim, creating a single unit that resulted in a gradual curvature of the casing. This design eliminated the 'S' shaped flexing inherent in traditional designs, providing better directional stability and contributing significantly to the active safety of the vehicle.
