Michelin Collection TRX ( 220/55 R390 88W )

The Michelin TRX is a pioneering tyre that was introduced in 1975, revolutionising the way tyres were designed and constructed. The 'Tension Repartie' (distributed tension) concept was first applied to this tyre, allowing for a more even distribution of tension throughout the entire tyre casing. As a result of its innovative design, the TRX gained recognition in Formula 1 racing with Renault and Prost, as well as in the world rally championship on the Audi Quattro, 205 Turbo 16 and R5 Turbo. The TRX was designed to work in perfect harmony with its rim, creating a single unit that transformed the way tyres were constructed. The rim underwent a fundamental transformation, featuring a flatter and lower flange design. This innovative design resulted in a gradual curvature of the casing, eliminating the 'S' shaped flexing inherent in traditional designs. The TRX tyre offers enhanced directional stability and makes a significant contribution to active safety, thanks to its exceptional handling close to the limit, especially when cornering. The TRX boasts remarkable grip, courtesy of the ideal distribution of pressure in the contact patch. Its excellent comfort is attributed to the increased useful flexing zone. The tyre's design features a new look to the tyre/ wheel assembly and the heavily sculpted tread pattern. The Michelin TRX has stood the test of time, remaining a testament to the innovative spirit of its creators.
