The Airtec Front Mounted Intercooler Kit is a high-performance upgrade for your vehicle's stock intercooler. This improved intercooler is designed to deliver consistently lower intake temperatures, enabling your engine to generate more power. Our intercoolers are carefully engineered with motorsport know-how and built with top-quality materials that can withstand increased boost levels. In a turbocharged or supercharged system, the air is pressurised, which raises its temperature. To combat this, most vehicles come equipped with an intercooler or charge cooler to cool the air down before it enters the intake manifold. However, the factory intercooler is typically designed for stock power levels and may struggle to maintain effective cooling as boost levels are increased or driving conditions become more demanding. An inadequate intercooler can lead to the engine reducing its output due to hotter air temperatures, even with a stock map. On remapped vehicles, an upgraded intercooler is essential to ensure you get the full benefit from your new power levels and avoid losing power to heat. The performance of an intercooler goes beyond its core size. Properly designed pipework, end-tanks, and core dimensions are crucial for minimising turbulence and optimising boost levels. In addition to a larger core, our Airtec intercoolers incorporate these design features, resulting in improved airflow and lower temperatures. This particular kit also includes an integrated crash bar that replaces the OE crash bar and utilises the entire frontal grille area. For certain vehicles, a front-mounted intercooler may be possible instead of the stock top or side-mount location, which offers better cooling efficiency due to increased airflow.
