The SmartyCam 3 Sport HD Camera from AIM Motorsport is a cutting-edge, high-definition camera designed specifically for motorsports applications, including club racing and karting. This latest version boasts an even more compact design, making it ideal for fitting into the most cramped cockpits. Its waterproof construction features a super tough glass lens cover, ensuring it can withstand the rigors of open cockpit cars or karts. The SmartyCam 3 Sport offers crystal-clear video recording at 1920 x 1080p resolution and 30 FPS, with real-time data overlay capabilities using data from AIM data loggers, MyChron kart loggers, and GPS modules. This allows for invaluable insights into improving lap times. This camera features a unique CMOS sensor designed specifically for motorsports, eliminating distortion and wave effects that are common in generic action cameras. The SmartyCam 3 Sport is available with two lens options: a 67-lens version ideal for closed-roof cars, reducing unwanted black frames, and an 84-lens version suitable for karts, open-roof, and formula cars. The built-in data logger records all displayed channels onto an SD card, which can be reviewed later using the free-to-download Race Studio 3 software. Recorded channels include RPM, throttle, engaged gears, acceleration, temperatures, pressures, and data from the camera's internal tri-axis accelerometer. Designed for extreme conditions, the SmartyCam 3 Sport features an incredibly tough and durable casing sealed to IP65 standards, with a sapphire frontal glass able to withstand high-speed impacts. Automatic start and stop functionality ensures seamless operation, eliminating the need to worry about switching on the camera. The SmartyCam 3 Sport also boasts automatic track selection when connected to a GPS module, recognizing the track you're at from its database. This eliminates the need for setup points for lap timing. A rear-mounted colour TFT display offers immediate playback and helps with initial setup. Automatic data and video synchronisation ensures that videos and important data are stored in the same MP4 file. If MP4 is not sufficient for analysis, it's possible to import video and data from an AIM logger, and the software will automatically synchronize them. The SmartyCam 3 Sport offers higher storage capacity using a compression system optimized to provide the perfect balance between video quality and file size. Video can be stored on an SD card up to 1TB in size, with three recording quality options available: High quality, Standard quality, and Low quality. Dimensions of the SmartyCam 3 Sport measure 80 x 54 x 46.5mm, and it is powered by an internal rechargeable Lithium battery with a battery charger included. The camera can also draw power from a vehicle's power supply when connected to an AIM logger/dash logger via the included CAN cable. Options are available for this product, including different lens types and lengths of CAN connection cables. Some options include a 2-way data hub, which allows for an external source of power to be used when the camera is not connected to an AIM logger/dash logger, eliminating the risk of battery drain.
