The construction of these seals is of utmost importance. They are made from high-quality, flame retardant nitrile rubber, ensuring that they not only perform efficiently but also offer a level of safety. The rubber is bonded to an anodised aluminium backing plate, providing additional durability and strength. Drilled holes in the backing plate make bolting or riveting to panels or bulkheads quick and easy. To ensure the correct size for your specific application, follow these simple guidelines: Select a grommet with a hole diameter 1.5-3.2mm smaller than the hose or wiring diameter. The rubber outside diameter should be 10mm larger than the largest part of the assembly that needs to pass through it (usually the hose end fitting). It is advisable to apply a lubricant, such as petroleum or silicone jelly, when passing lines through the grommet, making the process smoother and less likely to damage either the grommet or the line.
