Seals-It firewall grommet seals serve a crucial function by preventing smoke, fumes, and other harmful elements from entering the vehicle's cockpit while simultaneously safeguarding lines from chafing and wear on rough surfaces. These versatile seals are suitable for a wide range of applications, including fuel and oil lines, as well as various fluid lines and wiring installations. Their innovative design enables them to accommodate existing hose fittings without the need for complete disassembly, ensuring a more convenient installation process. Crafted from flame-retardant nitrile rubber, these grommet seals are bonded to an anodised aluminium backing plate, which features drilled holes for easy mounting using bolts or rivets onto panels or bulkheads. To ensure a proper fit, select a seal with a hole diameter that is 1.5-3.2mm smaller than the hose or wiring diameter. The rubber's outer dimension should be at least 10mm larger than the largest part of the assembly passing through it (usually the hose end fitting). To facilitate smooth passage, it is suggested to apply a lubricant such as petroleum jelly or silicone gel when threading lines through the grommet.
