The Seals-It Firewall Grommet Seals (single hole, 3" length) is a vital component for maintaining a clean and safe driving environment in your vehicle. Crafted from a flame retardant nitrile rubber, these grommets prevent smoke and fumes from penetrating the cockpit, while simultaneously shielding fluid lines and wires from abrasion caused by rough surfaces. Ideal for use with fuel and oil lines, as well as other types of fluid lines or wiring, they enable you to complete your through-panel installations with ease. The innovative design of these grommets means that in most cases, existing hoses and fittings need not be disassembled entirely. This is due to the rubber's flexible nature which allows the required fittings to pass through the grommet without issue. For secure installation, the grommets feature an anodised aluminium backing plate with pre-drilled holes for easy attachment using bolts or rivets to any panel or bulkhead. Selecting the appropriate size of firewall grommet seal is essential for optimal performance. To determine the correct grommet diameter, measure the hose or wire and select a seal with a hole that is 1.5-3.2mm smaller than the measured circumference. Additionally, ensure that the rubber's outside diameter (OD) is at least 10mm larger than the largest part of the assembly passing through it, typically the hose end fitting. For smooth installation, it is recommended to apply a lubricant such as petroleum or silicone jelly around the lines before threading them through the grommet.
