The AIM Motorsport MyChron5 S is a cutting-edge dash logger and kart lap timer that has been specifically designed to meet the needs of kart racers. This latest version boasts several upgrades over its predecessor, including an improved GPS frequency of 25 Hz with enhanced precision accuracy of approximately 45 cm (1.5 m to 1.5 feet). The redesigned Wi-Fi module offers a fivefold increase in data download speed, while the more powerful processor delivers twice the performance and increased memory for better functionality. This advanced device offers high-resolution graphical display capabilities, enabling it to sample, view, and record various kart engine parameters and lap data in real-time. The MyChron5S features built-in 25Hz GPS technology that allows it to accurately track speed, lap times (including split and predictive), gear, rpm, as well as data from the optional LCU-One Lambda Controller and MyChron Expansion module. The unit comes with one temperature sensor input, which can be used to measure either water temperature or under spark plug cylinder head temperature (CHT) or exhaust gas temperature (EGT). Users have the option to choose between a M10 (Rotax) or M5 water temperature sensor, an under-plug CHT sensor, or an EGT sensor (standard M5 or M12 to suit KF Engine Type). Additional sensors can be easily added using the AIM MyChron Expansion module. The MyChron 5S sports a configurable display with seven different colour options for optimal readability, making it easy for drivers to view essential information such as lap times and lap number, RPM in a customisable scale, and one temperature value on the track. Once back at the paddock, users can scroll through all relevant data on the display, including lap times with best lap indication, maximum RPM, and maximum temperature values. This versatile system is suitable for drivers of all skill levels, from beginners seeking essential functional information to professional teams requiring detailed, tailored, and specialised data analysis. Data is recorded internally in a 4Gb memory and can be downloaded via Wi-Fi to PCs for post-race analysis using the professional Race Studio software (complimentary download). The MyChron5 S offers several additional features such as automatic track identification through an integrated GPS system, which recognises at which track you are racing without any further sensors or configuration. The robust housing with a wide display and fully configurable backlight ensures easy viewing in diverse lighting conditions. The ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the display brightness to optimise visibility. For karts equipped with shift gears, drivers can choose to display the gear number calculated in real-time. The rechargeable lithium battery provides long-lasting power (approximately 10 hours) and is easily removable for recharging. An optional external power lead connection allows users to connect the device to their kart's 12v battery if desired. The system includes five RGB shift lights that can be customised with LED colours and RPM threshold values, as well as alarm settings for monitoring gear shifts and RPM in a glance. Additionally, Wi-Fi connection allows users to download data to their PCs, view real-time measures online, upgrade firmware, transmit parameters using the Data Key, or connect via fast Wi-Fi. Expansion options include the LCU-One Lambda controller for carburetion tuning, MyChron Expansion for adding additional sensors, and SmartyCam HD camera for professional videos with real-time data overlaid.
