The Black Diamond 2 Piece Stage 3 Clutch Kit features a Cerametallic plate with a diameter of 215mm and 20 Spline, designed to cope with significant increases in torque and higher performance demands associated with sporty driving. This clutch kit is ideal for track use, heavily modified engines, and chipped or mapped diesels where the torque has increased substantially. The Cerametallic Stage 3 Paddle Clutch uses a segmented drive plate with between 3 and 6 Ceremetallic paddles, depending on the clutch plate diameter. The smaller contact land area and stronger stainless-steel backing plates provide a higher clamping load and maximum torque transfer. The compounds friction plate material is similar in structure to sintered brake compounds, giving increased boost and response characteristics. The Ceremetallic material stands up extremely well to heat, making it preferable to Kevlar on highly tuned road driven diesels or race prepared engines. The number of paddles affects the driving feel, with more paddles generally equating to a smoother driving experience. The higher friction coefficient drive plate material results in a harsher, more on-off engagement feel than an organic clutch, particularly noticeable when parking or driving in traffic. Please note that the more abrupt take-up of a clutch of this type can create additional loads on a dual-mass flywheel, potentially causing premature wear and failure. In many cases, we recommend switching to a single-mass flywheel at the same time as fitting the clutch. The Black Diamond Stage 3 Clutch Kit is designed to cope with between 30% and 60% increase in torque, making it ideal for track use, heavily modified engines, and chipped or mapped diesles.
