The Cometic C4148-040 multi layer steel (MLS) cylinder head gasket is a superior sealing solution, expertly engineered for high output engines. It eliminates the need for extra sealants or re-torquing during installation. This advanced design offers enhanced sealing performance compared to OEM gaskets, making it particularly suitable for tuned engines with increased compression or boost levels. The MLS gasket's robust construction comprises multiple layers of stainless steel, each embossed outer layer and a heat-resistant Viton coating, providing unparalleled resistance to corrosion and enabling it to withstand extreme temperatures up to 250 degrees Celsius and high mechanical load conditions. This makes Cometic MLS head gaskets an excellent choice for use on performance engines equipped with cast iron or aluminium heads. For certain applications, there is also the MLX variant available; these gaskets feature an additional 'stopper' layer that forms a sealing ring around the combustion chamber, thereby improving clamp loads without causing excessive bore distortion. The MLX gasket option is particularly well-suited for highly tuned engines.
