Holley's Hydramat is a groundbreaking fuel tank pickup and collector solution, designed to overcome the limitations of conventional fuel pickups found in stock tanks and racing fuel cells. The innovative design addresses issues that arise during demanding driving conditions, such as hard cornering, acceleration, braking, inclines, and low fuel levels, which can lead to poor engine performance and even stalling due to air introduction into the system. The secret behind Hydramat's exceptional ability lies in its utilisation of surface tension and fluid wicking properties. As an area of the mat becomes uncovered, the tiny pores within the media form a seal through surface tension, effectively containing fuel in the internal reservoir while drawing it from other areas where fuel continues to be available. This extensive coverage area allows Hydramat to pull fuel from virtually any location in the tank or cell, eliminating the need for additional reservoirs and pickup pumps, resulting in significant cost savings and reduced complexity. Holley offers a variety of Hydramat sizes to cater to different tank dimensions and openings. The range includes square, rectangular, and X-shaped mats, which can easily be installed through various sending unit access holes or fuel cell cover plates. For installation in steel fuel tanks, separate magnetic fitting kits are available, with Type 1 (16-203) for 4-40 magnets and Type 2 (16-204) for 6-32 magnets.
