The former is designed to screw into the top of a fuel or oil drum with a metal screw thread, while the latter is specifically designed for fuel containers with a 3" wide neck, such as the Flo-Fast 5, 7.5, 10.5, and 15-gallon fuel containers, or 20L VP Racing and Sunoco fuel jugs.
