Driveshafts
Also referred to as propeller (prop) shaft, tailshaft, or Cardan shaft. A vehicles driveshafts are the mechanical components that transmit rotational torque from the engine to the driven axle(s) wheel components. Each end of the driveshaft will have a joint at either end to connect the other drivetrain components.
Different Types of Driveshaft
Vehicles with the engine and driven axle both located at the same end will require only two short ‘half-shaft’ connection between the trans-axle and wheel assembly. Where the engine and driven axle(s) are located at opposing ends, there is additionally one central driveshaft located longitudinal which is considerably longer. Finally, all-wheel driven vehicles will require one central driveshaft, plus four half-shafts to each wheel.Uprated Driveshaft
