Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors are specifically designed for use with Ford X-Flow engines that have been tuned and modified to accommodate different camshaft profiles and twin sidedraught carburettors.
These standard distributor units become inadequate, as they fail to provide the correct ignition curve required by these upgraded engines. Consequently, performance and drivability are compromised.
Aldon performance distributors have been dynamically developed to supply the appropriate ignition advance curve for a wide range of engine tuning states.
Most versions of these distributors offer the option of having a mechanical advance mechanism, ideal for engines that use twin sidedraught carburettors. These distributors provide improved power and drivability on tuned engines while maintaining their original appearance due to their compatibility with both Lucas and Bosch units.
Applications:
- 100AY: A non-vacuum distributor suitable for most Ford X-Flow engines that use camshafts such as Piper 270/285, Kent 266/276 and 286.
- 100AYV: A vacuum advance version of the 100AY distributor, suitable for engines with higher compression ratios (over 10:1).
- 100AYS: An alternative to the 100AY with a distributor cap that has the high-tension leads exiting from the side rather than the top, specifically designed for Sprite and Midget applications.
- 100AYSV: A vacuum advance version of the 100AYS with the same features as the 100AYSV but with the distributor cap design modification.
- 100AYP: An updated version of the 100AY, compatible with 'A' plus engine blocks in metro vehicles that have later type drive dogs.
- 100AR: A non-vacuum distributor for high-performance and racing engines using camshafts like 649, sprint or supersprint types. It is also available for Piper 300/320 or Kent 296/310 type camshafts.
- 100ARS: A vacuum advance version of the 100AR suitable for engines that require a distributor cap with the high-tension leads exiting from the side instead of the top.
- 100ARP: An updated version of the 100AR, compatible with 'A' plus engine blocks in metro vehicles that have later type drive dogs.
- 101BY1: A vacuum advance distributor for BMC 'A' series engines such as MGBs and Marina TCs, equipped with HS4 SU carburettors. Note: Later versions of these cars require the 101BY2 distributor due to changes in vacuum advance pipe connections.
- 101BY1S: An alternative to the 101BY1 with a distributor cap that has the high-tension leads exiting from the side rather than the top, necessary for some pre-rubber MGBs where the leads may foul on the steering column.
- 101BY2: A vacuum advance distributor suitable for BMC 'A' series engines with HIF4 SU carburettors, providing improved driveability while retaining resistance to 'run-on'.
- 101BR1: A non-vacuum distributor for tuned 'B' series engines using camshafts such as 714, 715, Piper 270 and 285, compatible with side draught carburettors.
- 101BR1S: An alternative to the 101BR1 with a distributor cap that has the high-tension leads exiting from the side rather than the top.
- 101BR2: A vacuum advance distributor suitable for road tuned 'B' series engines using camshafts like 714, 864, Piper 270 and 285, retaining the SU carburettors for optimal performance.
- 103FX1: A non-vacuum distributor for X/Flow engines with side draught carburettors that retain the standard 'GT' camshaft.
- 103FX1S: An alternative to the 103FX1 with a distributor cap that has the high-tension leads exiting from the side rather than the top, necessary for applications where two side draught carburettors are used and there may be clearance issues.
- 103FXY: A non-vacuum distributor suitable for tuned X/Flow engines with camshafts such as A2, BCF1, Piper 270, 285, Kent 234, 244, and side draught carburettors. Note: A vacuum unit should not be used with side draught carburettors.
- 103FXYV: An alternative to the 103FXY with a vacuum advance feature for specific X/Flow engines with twin choke down draught carburettors.
- 103FXYS: An alternative to the 103FXY with a distributor cap that has the high-tension leads exiting from the side rather than the top, necessary for applications where two side draught carburettors are used and there may be clearance issues.
- 103FXYSI: An alternative to the 103FXYS with an Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition system instead of points.
- 103FXR: A distributor for race specification X/Flow engines, with full engine specifications required.
- 103FXRS: An alternative to the 103FXR with a distributor cap that has the high-tension leads exiting from the side rather than the top.
- 103TC: A distributor suitable for most twin cam engines, from standard to virtually full race specification.
All Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors are available with either the original style contact breaker (points) system or the advanced 'Ignitor' electronic ignition system. The Ignitor system provides a more reliable and consistent ignition trigger, improving engine driveability and performance. It is a low-maintenance solution that can be easily installed within the distributor cap, ensuring the vehicle's original look remains unaltered.
