Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors offer enhanced ignition performance for your classic BMC A Series engines, specifically designed to suit different camshaft profiles and carburettor setups.
These distributors are meticulously developed on the dyno to optimize the ignition advance curve for a wide range of engine tunes. For engines using twin sidedraught carburettors, mechanical advance options are available to ensure optimal performance and drivability.
Our distributors come with two main options: a standard contact breaker (points) system or an upgraded Ignitor electronic ignition system. The Ignitor electronic ignition provides more reliable and consistent ignition triggering compared to traditional points systems, while also improving engine performance and drivability. This state-of-the-art solution seamlessly integrates within the distributor cap, preserving the classic aesthetic of your vehicle.
Our product range includes the following BMC A Series options:
- 100AYP: Suitable for most tuned engines, including those with camshafts like Piper 270/285 and Kent 266/276 and 286.10
- 100AYV: Similar to the 100AYP but includes a vacuum advance option for engines with higher compression ratios (typically above 10:1).
- 100AYS: Identical to the 100AYP, but features a distributor cap with side-coming H.T. leads, necessary for Sprite/Midget applications.
- 100ARP: Designed for rally and race-tuned engines running on camshafts like 649, sprint, or supersprint type camshafts. Also available for Piper 300/320 or Kent 296/310 type camshafts.
For BMC B Series applications, we offer the following options:
- 101BY1: A vacuum advance distributor designed to replace original units on MGB and Marina TC vehicles with HS4 SU carburettors. Use 101BY2 for later versions where the vacuum advance pipe is connected to the inlet manifold.
- 101BR1: A non-vacuum distributor suitable for tuned B Series engines using camshafts such as 714, 715, Piper 270/285, and side draught carburettors.
- 101BR1S: Identical to the 101BR1 but with a distributor cap featuring side-coming H.T. leads for pre-rubber MGBs where H.T. leads may foul on the steering column.
- 101BR2: A vacuum advance distributor suitable for standard B Series engines using 714, 864, Piper 270/285 camshafts and retaining SU carburettors, offering improved driveability and performance.
Additionally, we have options for Ford X/Flow and twin cam applications:
- 103FX1: A non-vacuum distributor suitable for X/Flow engines with side draught carburettors retaining the standard 'GT' camshaft.
- 103FX1S: Identical to the 103FX1, but with a distributor cap featuring side-coming H.T. leads for applications where necessary due to limited space.
- 103FXY: A non-vacuum distributor suitable for most tuned X/Flow engines using camshafts like A2, BCF1, Piper 270/285, Kent 234, 244 in conjunction with side draught carburettors.
- 103FXYV: For some X/Flow engines with twin choke down draught carburettors, a vacuum advance option may be available.
- 103FXYS: Identical to the 100FXY but with a distributor cap featuring side-coming H.T. leads for applications where necessary due to limited space.
- 103FXYSI: Identical to the 100FXYS, but fitted with Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition instead of points.
- 103FXR: A distributor suitable for race-specification X/Flow engines. Detailed engine specifications are required for accurate fitment confirmation.
- 103FXRS: Identical to the 103FXR, but with a distributor cap featuring side-coming H.T. leads.
- 103TC: A non-vacuum distributor suitable for most twin cam engines from standard to virtually full race specification.
- 104FPY: A non-vacuum distributor suitable for Ford X/Flow engines with side draught carburettors retaining the standard camshaft.
- 104FPR1: A distributor with mechanical advance for engines using twin sidedraught carburettors and modified camshafts such as Piper 270, 285, Kent RL1, RL2, Burton 32, 33 or 40, 41 etc.
- 104FPR2: A distributor with vacuum advance suitable for Ford X/Flow engines fitted with twin chokedown draught carburettors together with a modified camshaft.
- 105FV1: A non-vacuum distributor suitable for most tuned V6 (Essex Type) engines using camshafts like Piper 270, 285, Kent V62/
