Discover the Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors for BMC A Series Engines - Improve Your Engine's Power and Driveability Aldon performance distributors are designed specifically to address the challenges of tuned engines in classic vehicles. With different camshaft profiles and often twin sidedraught carburettors, the standard distributor unit can no longer provide an ignition curve that matches the engine, leading to a loss of power and drivability. Our performance distributors are based on new Lucas or Bosch units and have been dyno developed to deliver the correct ignition advance curve for your engine's specific state of tune. Choose from various options: - Mechanical advance for engines using twin sidedraught carburettors - Modified ignition advance curve for improved power and driveability on tuned engines - Ignitor electronic ignition for enhanced reliability and consistent ignition trigger Our distributors are available in several variations to suit a wide range of applications: BMC A Series Applications: 100AY - Non-vacuum distributor, suitable for most tuned engines using camshafts such as Piper 270/285, Kent 266/276 and 286. 100AYV - Identical to the 100AY but with vacuum advance (general rule: use 100AY for engines with compression ratios above 10:1). 100AYS - Same as 100AY, but with a distributor cap where HT leads come out of the side instead of the top, necessary for Sprite/Midget applications. 100AYSV - Identical to 100AYV, but with a distributor cap where HT leads come out of the side instead of the top. 100AYP - Uses the same advance characteristics as 100AY, but with a later type drive dog for 'A' plus blocks in the metro. 100AR - Non-vacuum distributor suitable for rally and race tuned engines running on 649, sprint or supersprint type camshafts. Also available for Piper 300/320 or Kent 296/310 type camshafts. 100ARS - Same as 100AR, but with a distributor cap where HT leads come out of the side instead of the top. 100ARP - Uses the same advance characteristics as 100AR, but with a later type drive dog for 'A' plus blocks in the metro. BMC B Series Applications: 101BY1 - Distributor with vacuum advance designed to replace the original distributor on standard MGBs and Marinas (TCs) fitted with HS4 SU carburettors. Note: later versions of these cars have the vacuum advance pipe connected to the inlet manifold, use 101BY2 for those applications. 101BY1S - Identical to 101BY1 but with a distributor cap where HT leads come out of the side instead of the top, necessary for some pre-rubber MGBs where HT leads may foul on the steering column. 101BY2 - Distributor with vacuum advance suitable for standard MGBs and Marinas (TCs) when fitted with HIF4 SU carburettors, improves driveability while retaining resistance to 'run-on'. 101BR1 - Non-vacuum distributor suited to tuned B series engines using camshafts such as 714, 715, Piper 270/285 and fitted with a side draught carburettor. 101BR1S - Identical to 101BR1 but with a distributor cap where HT leads come out of the side instead of the top. 101BR2 - Vacuum advance distributor suitable for road tuned B series engines using 714, 864, Piper 270/285 camshafts but retaining the SU carburettors. Ford X/Flow and Twin Cam (all Lucas based): 103FX1 - Non-vacuum distributor for X/Flow engines fitted with side draught carburettors, retains the standard 'GT' camshaft. 103FX1S - Identical to 103FX1 but with a distributor cap where HT leads come out of the side instead of the top, necessary when a pair of side draught carburettors are fitted to 1100 and 1300 engines. 103FXY - Non-vacuum distributor suitable for most tuned X/Flow engines using camshafts such as A2, BCF1, Piper 270/285, Kent 234, 244, in conjunction with side draught carburettors (note: a vacuum unit must not be used when an engine is fitted with side draught carburettors). 103FXYV - On some X/Flow engines with a twin choke down draught carburettor, it may be possible to have a vacuum distributor. 103FXYS - Identical to 103FXY but with a distributor cap where HT leads come out of the side instead of the top, necessary when a pair of side draught carburettors are fitted to 1100 and 1300 engines. 103FXYSI - Identical to 103FXYS but with Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition system instead of points. 103FXR - Distributor for race specification X/Flow engines, full engine specification details required. 103FXRS - Identical to 100FXR but with a distributor cap where HT leads come out of the side instead of the top. 103TC - Non-vacuum distributor suitable for most twin cam engines from standard to virtually full race. Ford OHC (Pinto) All Bosch Units: 104FPY - Non-vacuum distributor for engines fitted with side draught carburettors but retaining the standard camshaft. 104FPR1 - Non-vacuum distributor suitable for engines fitted with modified camshafts such as Piper 270, 285, Kent RL1, RL2, Burton 32, 33 or 40, 41 etc. 104FPR2 - Vacuum advance distributor suitable for engines fitted with twin choke down draught carburettors together with modified camshafts.
