Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors - Ford X-Flow 103FXYV
The Aldon Automotive Performance Distributors for Ford X-Flow 103FXYV series are specifically designed to cater to the needs of high-performance engines that require a more tailored ignition curve. When conventional engines are upgraded with different camshaft profiles and often twin sidedraught carburettors, the standard distributor unit becomes obsolete due to its inability to provide the correct ignition curve for optimal engine performance. This can lead to power loss and poor drivability. The Aldon performance distributors are engineered based on new Lucas or Bosch units and have been dynamically optimized to deliver the ideal ignition advance curve to suit different levels of engine tuning. They offer a range of options, including mechanical advance for engines using twin sidedraught carburettors and various camshaft upgrades. These distributors are not only designed to enhance power but also to improve overall drivability on tuned engines. The distributors are available in various configurations to suit different models: - 100AY: For non-vacuum distributors, suitable for most tuned engines using camshafts like Piper 270/285, Kent 266/276 and 286.1. - 100AYV: Identical to the 100AY but with vacuum advance. For applications where the engine vacuum is used (usually engines with a compression ratio above 10:1). - 100AYS: Same as the 100AY, but with a distributor cap that positions the H.T. leads on the side instead of the top, essential for Sprite/Midget applications. - 100AYSV: Like the 100AYS, but with vacuum advance. - 100AYP: Similar to the 100AY, but with a later type drive dog that is compatible with 'A' plus blocks in the metro. - 100AR: Designed for rally and race-tuned engines running on 649, sprint or supersprint camshafts. - 100ARS: Identical to the 100AR but with H.T. leads coming out of the side. - 100ARP: Similar to the 100AR, but with a later type drive dog for 'A' plus blocks in the metro. In addition to these options, Aldon distributors are also available with Ignitor electronic ignition for improved reliability and consistent ignition triggering. This fit-and-forget solution replaces the traditional contact breaker (points) system and offers several benefits, including enhanced engine drivability and performance. Application List: BMC 'A' Series: - 100AY: For non-vacuum distributors, suitable for most tuned engines using camshafts like Piper 270/285, Kent 266/276 and 286.1. - 100AYV: With vacuum advance for engines that rely on engine vacuum (usually engines with a compression ratio above 10:1). - 100AYS: Same as the 100AY but with H.T. leads on the side. Necessary for Sprite/Midget applications where H.T. leads may otherwise foul the steering column. - 100AYSV: With vacuum advance and H.T. leads on the side. - 100AYP: Similar to the 100AY but with a later type drive dog for 'A' plus blocks in the metro. BMC 'B' Series: - 101BY1: With vacuum advance, suitable for standard MGBs and Marina TCs with HS4 SU Carburettors. Note that later versions of these cars have the vacuum advance pipe connected to the inlet manifold, not the carburettor, so use 101BY2 for these applications. - 101BY1S: Identical to the 101BY1 but with H.T. leads on the side. Necessary for some pre-rubber MGBs where H.T. leads may foul the steering column. - 101BY2: With vacuum advance for standard MGBs and Marina TCs with HIF4 SU carburettors, retaining good driveability and resistance to 'run-on'. - 101BR1: Non-vacuum distributor suitable for tuned 'B' series engines using camshafts like 714, 715, Piper 270, 285. - 101BR1S: Identical to the 101BR1 but with H.T. leads on the side. - 101BR2: With vacuum advance for road-tuned 'B' series engines using camshafts like 714, 864, Piper 270, 285. Ford X/Flow and Twin Cam (All Lucas Based): - 103FX1: Non-vacuum distributor for X/Flow engines fitted with side draught carburettors but retaining the standard 'GT' camshaft. - 103FX1S: Identical to the 103FX1 but with H.T. leads on the side, necessary when a pair of side draught carburettors are fitted to 1100 and 1300 engines. However, we cannot guarantee fitment if the block has been skimmed extensively. - 103FXY: Non-vacuum distributor for most tuned X/Flow engines using camshafts like A2, BCF1, Piper 270, 285, Kent 234, 244, in conjunction with side draught carburettors. Note that a vacuum unit must not be used when an engine is fitted with side draught carburettors. - 103FXYV: Identical to the 103FXY but with vacuum advance for some X/Flow engines with twin choke down draught carburettor. - 103FXYS: Identical to the 103FXY but with H.T. leads on the side, necessary when a pair of side draught carburettors are fitted to 1100 and 1300 engines. However, we cannot guarantee fitment if the block has been skimmed extensively. - 103FXYSI: Identical to the 103FXYS but with Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition instead of points. - 103FXR: For race specification X/Flow engines. Full engine specifications are required for proper selection. - 103FXRS: Identical to the 103FXR but with H.T. leads on the side. 103TC: A non-vacuum distributor suitable for most twin cam engines from standard to virtually full race. Ford OHC (Pinto) All Bosch Units: - 104FPY: Non-vacuum distributor for engines fitted with side draught carburettors and retaining the standard camshaft. - 104FPR1: Non-vacuum distributor for engines fitted with side draught carburettors but with a modified camshaft like Piper 270, 285, Kent RL1, RL2, Burton 32, 33 or 40, 41 etc. - 104FPR2: Vacuum advance distributor for engines fitted with twin choke down draught carburettors together with a modified camshaft.
