Peugeot’s famous lion was trademarked in 1858 when the family-run company owned a coffee mill and produced bicycles. Peugeot is pronounced “per-zhoh” in English.
Peugeot’s race history is remarkable, finishing second in what is widely credited as the earliest motorsport competition - the 1884 Paris-Rouen Trials.
Peugeot’s first foray into rallying came in 1984 where the team enjoyed early success in the 205 Turbo 16, but have since departed the sport in 2005.
In 2009 Peugeot added a third Le Mans victory to their roster.
